A third Quebec creative signature flies to Aerowaves 2027!

It is with immense pride that La danse sur les routes du Québec (La DSR) announces the laureates of its third consecutive call for projects, conducted in partnership with the prestigious Aerowaves network.

Following a rigorous selection process led by a jury of peers, local creativity is once again set to shine across the Atlantic. For this 2027 edition, the choice fell on a powerful, bold artistic approach resolutely rooted in contemporary writing:

Congratulations to the duo Morin/Leroux • Arts vivants!

Thanks to this selection, choreographer Alexandre Morin and dramaturge Mathieu Leroux will have the unique opportunity to fly to Limerick, Ireland, from March 30 to April 14, 2027. There, they will lead an international project combining pedagogical transmission and choreographic rewriting.

Featured Work: Cutting Through the Noise

Originally created in 2024, Cutting Through the Noise is a physical and sensory journey driven by a propulsive musical score. Between an obsessive path, a cycle of subtle metamorphoses, and an exhilarating concert, the piece powerfully evokes a youth marked by the digital age. In a world saturated with stimuli, the collective reclaims the power of the body and movement as an act of presence—a visceral, collective momentum that celebrates freedom and human connections.

The Challenge of In Situ and Transmission

The core of this project rests on a double artistic and human performance. During three intensive weeks in the studios of Dance Limerick—our host for the occasion, whom La DSR warmly thanks—the Morin/Leroux • Arts vivants team will transmit this work to young professional English-speaking dancers based in Ireland.

While the piece was initially designed for nine performers on stage, the main challenge will be to adapt this proposition to a demanding in situ context. The final work, condensed to a duration of 20 to 30 minutes, will have to inhabit new spaces outside traditional theater stages, while operating with light technical autonomy.

Heading to the Spring Forward Festival 2027

The culmination of this extraordinary experience will take place on April 14, 2027, in Limerick, where this brand-new adaptation of Cutting Through the Noise will be unveiled during an official public showing.

This presentation will be held immediately prior to the opening of the famous Spring Forward Festival (running from April 14 to 17, 2027). Spearheaded by Aerowaves, this major touring event gathers each year the most prominent programmers, presenters, and performing arts professionals from around the globe. The Quebec artists will participate in the entire festival, gaining an invaluable strategic showcase for the future development and circulation of their creations internationally.

A Lasting Reciprocity at the Heart of Our Networks

The reciprocal partnership between La DSR and Aerowaves reflects the deep alignment of our respective missions: breaking boundaries and propelling the most promising choreographic voices forward. This structuring network for Quebec contemporary dance is made possible thanks to the invaluable support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).

As part of an ongoing commitment to greater equity, La DSR would like to acknowledge all the artists who shared their proposals during this call, confirming once again the immense vitality, diversity, and richness of our local dance community.

The entire La DSR team wishes a wonderful creative adventure to Morin/Leroux • Arts vivants! Follow us over the coming months to discover the behind-the-scenes of this artistic journey between Quebec and Ireland.
