Jouer dehors is a coaching and professional development program in the presentation of dance. It is intended for dance artists who have created a work to bo performed in situ (meaning offstage) from any genre and of all origins like ballet, jigging, indigenous dances, street dance, flamenco, ect…
Opening of the call for projects: April 5, 2023
Deadline: Midnight on April 21, 2023
The program offers artists the opportunity to expand their performance presentation skills, acquire a genuine ability to develop their partner network and thereby provide the stability required to achieve their artistic ambitions. The collective approach helps participants develop their skills for their effective and long-lasting integration into the performance world.
For 10 years, it has proved to be a fantastic professional development tool for about 40 artists as well as a catalyst for a new dance performance circuit. The program is a driver for between 75 and 160 outdoor performances annually. This success led Dance West Network to start a sister program in British Columbia called Des arts dehors/Arts Outside, and there has been collaboration between these programs through artistic exchange since 2015. Moreover, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) named Jouer dehors a structuring project for artwork circulation in its 2019-2022 Action Plan Report for the Circulation of the Performing Arts in Quebec.
