Originally from Montreal, Maïka Giasson received her training at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, from which she graduated in 2017. She was awarded the Sofia-Borella scholarship and the TransFormation Danse scholarship, which propelled her into the professional world. At the age of 21, she embarked on advanced training internships in Europe, notably in Germany and Belgium. Since then, Maïka has worked with several companies and choreographers in Montreal such as Jacques Poulin-Denis, Stacey Désilier, Miranda Chan, and the company Parts+Labour_Danse, with whom she has developed a professional relationship since 2019. In 2021, Maïka choreographed the duo “Tracking,” presented at the Quartiers Danses Festival in Montreal, which received the award for the best work in an urban context. She is also the artistic director and choreographer of the multi-disciplinary show “Dyneema,” which premiered at the Festival Mode, arts et divertissements in August 2023.
