Katia-Marie Germain is a Montreal-based choreographer and performer. Her works Y demeurer (2010), Aube (2012), FOLDS (2014) and Habiter (2017)) were created and performed in various festivals and venues in Quebec and abroad. She has been awarded numerous research and creation residencies in Montreal, as well as international exchange programs in Belgium, Chile, France, and Italy. Having earned degrees in both visual arts and contemporary dance, she completed her MA in Dance in 2017. With an interdisciplinary approach, Katia-Marie uses visual arts composition strategies to question the choreographic field. Through movement, scenography and light, she creates environments which alter, renew or deflect the perceptions of both the dancer and the spectator. The end result is works that capture the spectator’s eye and lead to moments of wonder or contemplation.
