Company Presentation

Louise Lecavalier worked with Édouard Lock and La La La Human Steps from 1981 to 1999, a period of exceptional intensity marked by works that became mythical as well as memorable collaborations with David Bowie and Frank Zappa. Incarnating extreme dance with a fiery passion, she captured the imagination of an entire generation and astonished audiences worldwide. With her company, Fou Glorieux, founded in 2006, she has continued her research in solo and duo form, focussing on virtuosity, the surpassing of limits, and risk-taking - a quest for the absolute in which she seeks “the more-than-human in the human being.” Louise explores dance with other “gloriously mad” creators such as choreographers Tedd Robinson, Benoît Lachambre, Crystal Pite, Nigel Charnock, Fabien Prioville, Jakop Ahlbom, and Deborah Dunn; musicians Mercan Dede, Hahn Rowe and Antoine Berthiaume; visual artist Laurent Goldring; and lighting designer Alain Lortie. For the last few years, Louise has been fully engaged in a choreographic adventure with So Blue (2012) and Battleground (2016), both of which have won international acclaim and have toured widely. She has won numerous prizes over the course of her career.
