E1 - Digital Strategies

Recommendations

Considering that, due to the pandemic, dance companies, presenters and networks are looking for alternative ways to reach young audiences, and considering that the internet has the potential to increase awareness, promotion, participation, outreach, documentation and transmission of DYA repertoire, we recommend that arts councils as well as departments of culture and education  support companies, schools, presenters and networks looking to develop digital strategies and tools.

Stakeholders

Digital dissemination provides opportunities to reach out to more children and youth interested in dance, in particular outside major urban centres, by making available documentation, workshops, residencies, performances, outreach activities and archives. Innovative digital dance art projects should be funded as a priority.

Performance Indicators

Number of awareness and outreach activities, website hit rates for pedagogical guides and interactive activities for educators and students.

E2 - Mapping

Recommendations

Considering the importance of alternative forms of digital creation, production and dissemination in DYA in the pandemic context and moving forward, we recommend that more resources be directed to sharing best practices.

Stakeholders

By facilitating sharing of best practices, associations and networks would enhance the knowledge of digitally based creation and dissemination practices.

Performance Indicators

Range and diversity of practices shared.
