  • très loin is a visual and kinesthetic installation created in collaborative artistic partnership with visual artist Ed Pien, choreographer Sylvie Bouchard, composer Phil Strong, and dramaturge Anne-Marie Donovan. The installation, presented in a large room with audience members seated oval-shaped, is inhabited by four dancers for a period of 60 minutes.

très loin looks at the impact of deep trauma. It explores how traumatic experiences affect us and how resilience is built through journeys of recovery. The piece looks closely at how our mind and body deal with the consequences of a traumatic experience, but most importantly, it portraits the incredible strength and perseverance needed to deal with the aftermath of these experiences. très loin closely at dissociation, a normal response to an abnormal situation (abuse, violence, danger, etc.) and how this state lingers in the mind and body of the survivor. The re-building of “self” then becomes a life-long quest.
